Civilian killed in Bijbehara gunfight identified | KNO

The civilian who according to police was killed in cross firing during a late night encounter between militants and government forces in Kanelwon Bijbehara on Thursday, has been identified.

The slain civilian is a resident of Arwani Bijbehara namely Gh Mohi u din @ Mohi Tas.


A Hizb militant was killed in the Kanelwan Bijebehara tehsil of south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Thursday night.


The encounter had started after government forces laid siege in Kanelwan village after receiving inputs about the presence of at least three militants in the area, police said.


However, taking advantage of the darkness, two among three militants managed to escape.


Consequently, one Hizb militant who was later identified by police as Yawar Nissar Shergujri @ Algazi got killed in the  encounter.


During the cross firing an unidentified civilian riding a motorcycle Yamaha Libero (JK13-527?) with erased last numeral got killed, police said.
