Army says "he was shot at by militants'

Srinagar, November 23 (KNO) : A civilian sustained injuries on Friday evening by 50 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) Army at Chattergam village of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Locals told KNO that gun shots were heard in the late evening and reportedly one civilian has sustained injuries. The civilian was identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie (28), son of Nazir Ahmad Ganie of Magray Pora Khanda who is carpenter by profession. However, police officer while talking to KNO that an Army has claimed that its party heard some gunshots following which they rushed to the spot and found an injured persons there whom they have evacuated to the hospital. An official at SMHS said that the injured civilian has received grievous injuries and was shifted to SKIMS for specialized treatment. Meanwhile, Army said that Ishfaq was shot at by the militants 500-600 metres away from Army Camp at Chhatargam. "When the Army troops heard sound of firing, the Quick Reaction Team immediately rushed towards the direction of fire to find out what was happening," Army said in a statement issued to KNO.  Army said that when the party reached the spot, they saw Ishfaq in a pool of blood. "He had bullet injuries, one in head and the other in leg and was immediately taken to Chhatargam hospital  from where doctors shifted him to SMHS," the statement said. It added that the reports of individual lobbing the grenade on Army Camp and Army retaliation are 'completely baseless’.(KNO)
