Srinagar, Mar 31 (KNO): There was let up in restrictions and lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir for the 13th straight day on Tuesday with authorities continuing to act tough against those violating the government’s prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPc in wake of the deadly Coronavirus.
According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), strict restrictions continued to remain in place in Srinagar and rest of the districts in Jammu and Kashmir. Witnesses said that large contingent of police and paramilitary troopers were deployed on the roads at many vital points who had erected concertina wires, thus halting the vehicular as well as pedestrians movement.
Although most of the roads, lanes and bi-lanes wore deserted look throughout the day with people preferring to stay indoors as per the guidelines and advisory issued by the authorities, but some of the people who had defied the restrictions were booked by the concerned authorities and were lodged in respective police stations.
During the restrictions from last 13 days, at least 400 First Information Reports (FIR) have been registered by Jammu and Kashmir against those who had violated the government orders and also arrested 250 so far from different parts of the Valley.
On Tuesday, Police Station Qazigund arrested two persons and seized one vehicle for violating government orders, officials said, adding that a case under FIR number 66 and 67/2020 under section 188 and 269 IPC was registered.
Besides, many of the villages across Jammu and Kashmir have been declared red zone after some positive cases for Coronavirus were detected from the area so far.
So far, 55 people across the Union Territory have been tested positive while two patients have also died due to the virus – (KNO)
