Srinagar, Mar 24 (KNO): Three more persons having travel history of outside Kashmir tested positive for deadly Covid-19 on Tuesday taking the total number of positive cases to seven in Jammu and Kashmir. “Two more cases reported positive in Srinagar. One has confirmed travel history outside India while full details regarding the second being ascertained,” reads an official tweet of Health and Medical Education department and Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).

As per wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary also tweeted: “2 more positive cases. Teams are on ground as per SoP. We need to be more alert and cooperative. Pl.” An official said that of them is a resident of Natipora Srinagar aged 57, (name withheld) who had returned from Saudi Arabia in same flight in which 67-year-old lady from Khanyar was on board, who was tested positive for Coronavirus on March 18 while as the other one is a resident of Hyderpora aged 65 with travel history of Delhi. Head of department chest disease hospital Srinagar Dr Naveed Shah told KNO so far two cases have been tested positive out of 23 samples taken. He said results of 8 samples were today sent for tests, who reports are still awaited.

Later officials confirmed that a 22-year-old youth from Baramulla who has a travel history of outside Jammu and Kashmir was also tested positive for Coronavirus Officials said that a sample of person admitted in GMC Baramulla was sent to SKIMS where it came out positive talking the toll of cases positive for Coronavirus to seven in Jammu and Kashmir. "Another positive case in Kashmir division.Patient from Bandipora with history of travel outside J&K but no history of travel abroad. Contact tracing on", tweeted Government spokesperson Rohit kansal On March 17, a woman from Khanyar area of Srinagar having travel history of Saudi Arabia was tested positive for Covid-19, who according to doctors is recovering well. District Magistrate Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhury tweeted "Srinagar's first COVID-19 Positive case successfully treated: Director SKIMS. Let's #BreakTheChain."

Nodal officer SKIMS Dr G H yatoo told KNO that SKIMS received today one patient with symptoms of Coronavirus whose sample was taken today and report is likely to come tomorrow. He further added that a 67 year old lady from Khanyar who was the first case of Coronavirus in Kashmir is recovering very well, however he said it will take more time for her to be 100 percent fit. As per the daily information bulletin 4765 persons in jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 2928 persons have kept under home quarantine. According to the bulletin on novel coronavirus, 71 persons have kept under hospital quarantine while as 498 persons have completed surveillance period. 1268 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far 279 number of samples have been collected for test of covid-19. Out of 279, 253 samples have been tested negative while as six have been tested positive among them one has recovered besides that reports of 20 samples are yet to come—(KNO)
