Baramulla, May 20 (KNO): In a shocking incident a 40-year-old man who was under administrative quarantine at Saint Joseph School in north Kashmir's Baramulla district was declared COVID-19 positive a night after he was allowed to go home with negative discharge certificate. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the patient from Baramulla town was discharged on Monday morning from quarantine centre Baramulla by concerned Block Medical Officer after providing him negative COVID-19 discharge certificate. “Next morning he was called back after spending a night with his family and meeting scores of people in his locality including many of his relatives.” Talking to KNO, the patient said that he was allowed to go home after being given a negative certificate but the very next morning he was called back for sampling but the medical team later told him that he has tested positive for Covid-19. He said that he spent three days at quarantine centre in Baramulla and was discharged on Monday morning after receiving a negative certificate from the concerned block medical officer. “I spent a night with my children and other family members and I also came in contact with number of people including many of my relatives. Now they may have also contracted the virus as I was informed to visit for yet another sampling but on reaching here I was told that you have already tested positive,” he said. He said this is totally the failure of administration and the negligence of health department Baramulla as they have left lives of many people at risk. He also said that it should be verified as to why he was allowed to go home by the medical authorities and risking the precious lives of scores of people who came in close contact with him. Pertinently, it is the second incident within a day when a Covid-19 patient was allowed to go home by medical authorities in north Kashmir. Earlier, a youth from Langate was given negative discharge certificate and he also spent day with his family, following which a number of people including his family members were put under quarantine—(KNO)
