DGP grants scholarship of over Rs. 4.3 lac for 72 wards of slain, serving policemen | KNO

Srinagar, Aug 05 (KNO): Continuing with its efforts to boost the morale and support the wards of martyrs, retired and serving Police personnel, the Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh Wednesday sanctioned scholarship to 38 wards of Police personnel who laid their lives in violence/ militant related incidents in the Union Territory. As per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the DGP also sanctioned meritorious scholarships in favour of 34 wards of serving Police personnel, who have secured 80% and above marks in the annual examination of Class 12th during the Academic Session 2019. Vide Order No. 2095, Rupees 2,93,000 has been sanctioned in favour of 38 wards of Police martyrs. Out of these wards rupees 15000 have been sanctioned in favour of one ward for pursuing Ph.D. Rupees 12000 each have been sanctioned in favour of six wards that are pursuing post-graduation. Similarly, rupees 10000 each have been sanctioned in favour of 14 wards who are studying in higher secondary or pursuing graduation. Seven wards who are studying in middle and secondary classes have been granted rupees 6000 each and rupees 2400 each have been granted in favour of 10 wards who are studying in primary classes. The amount has been sanctioned out of the Central Police Education Fund. Vide Order No. 2085, rupees 1,42,000 meritorious scholarship have been sanctioned in favour of 34 wards  of serving Police personnel who have secured 80% and above marks in the Annual Examination of Class 12th during the Academic Session 2019. Rupees 6000 each have been sanctioned in favour of three wards who have secured 90% and above marks. Similarly rupees 4000 each have been sanctioned in favour of 31 wards who have secured 80% and above marks in the annual examination. The amount has been sanctioned out of the Central Police Welfare Fund. The meritorious scholarships for the wards of serving Police personnel and scholarship for the wards of Police Martyrs are granted every year for the school going children to boost their morale and to provide them assistance in pursuing education—(KNO)
