Due to Geelani’s ill health, Sumji convenes amalgam meet at Hyderpora | KNO

Srinagar, July 20 (KNO) : In an advisory meeting of Hurriyat Conference, scheduled to be convened under the chairmanship of Syed Ali Geelani, was presided over by its General Secretary Haji Gh. Nabi Sumji at Hyderpora, due to ill health of its chairman. The meeting discussed the prevailing political situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Participants also expressed their grave concern about the deteriorating health of Chairman Syed Ali Geelani and appealed people to pray for his speedy recovery. According to a statement issued to KNO, the participants unanimously said that “Kashmir issue is a long pending globally accepted dispute waiting for its final solution. It pertains to the life and livelihood of more than 14 million people and if put to backburner it has the potential of igniting and threatening peace of not only subcontinent but whole world as well.” The meeting expressed its serious concern about the alarming social evil and engulfing our youth randomly in drug addiction and stressed upon the measures to tackle this menace. General Secretary G. N. Sumji in his presidential address said that “our movement is going through a tough phase and only steadfastness and dedication can sail us through this turmoil.” He too expressed his concern on the fast growing drug addiction in society and appealed people to collectively fight against it.(KNO)
