Srinagar 28 August (KNO) : Condemning police assault on peaceful protesters in various parts of Kashmir, AIP President Er. Rasheed has reiterated that defending 35-A is a compulsion of people of the state and the ultimate goal is restoring peace in the entire sub-continent by resolving Kashmir dispute once for all.

In a statement issued today Er. Rasheed said “The way local police crossed the redline and used force against its own people everywhere is condemnable and has no justification. Carrying out protest marchs in Defending Article 35-A does not need permission from the cops as it is a battle of every household including that of SP Vaid and every single cop.

Cops need to understand that New Delhi is very keen in making Kashmiris to fight against each other, so that what happened in Punjab three decades before is repeated in J&K. Let local police men understand that they are sons of the soil and everything what Kashmiris are seeking on the streets should be first priority of men in uniform also. Rather remaining grateful to masses for raising their voice in support of 35-A J&K police’s behavior is based on arrogance and opportunism”.

Er. Rasheed condemned torturing of a school teacher Mushtaq Ahmad Mir inside army camp of 40RR at Pulwama and also condemned the brutal force used by police against Dr. Mudasir Thakur and others inside police station in Shopian. He appealed DGP to look into the matter and punish those who crossed all the limits of brutality inside police station in Shopian. He appealed families of policemen to ask their beloved ones in uniform not to insult, disgrace and beat up their own people including families of militants and thus are inviting trouble and worries not for only themselves but the entire family.

Er. Rasheed appealed top police cops not to continue experimenting Punjab formula in Kashmir and said that all efforts aimed at dividing the society will fail as those on the streets are not criminals but are fighting for the political and legitimate rights of the people of the state.
