Srinagar, March 02 (KNO) : Expressing serious concern on banning the Jamaat-e-Islami and reports of sealing the residential houses of many Jamaat activists, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) Saturday said that Kashmir has been turned into a virtual battle field where even basic human rights are being violated on government level and on daily basis. JKDFP Spokesperson in a statement issued to KNO that banning of Jamaat is an act of arrogance and a sheer example of communalism at the hands of Indian government which is hell bent to create a dangerous situation in the disputed region. “First New Delhi jailed the leaders like JKDFP chief Shabir Shah, then it is continuously provoking the people of Kashmir by passing intimidating orders like banning of Jamaat. It started sealing of Jamaat activist’s houses which is shocking. Punishing the innocent children, women and elders of political opponents is an uncivilized and inhuman act,” he said. He said it seems that New Delhi has decided to punish the pro-freedom Kashmiri people collectively by using different means. “First the authorities started arrest spree and jailed hundreds of Jamaat and other pro-freedom activists and now it started targeting their close relatives which will have serious ramifications,” he added. The spokesperson said that instead of using intimidating means against the people of Kashmir, New Delhi must take steps to create conducive atmosphere in the disputed region which is already facing a vacuum at political level.(KNO)
