Handwara, May 18 (KNO): Around 50 people including students who arrived from Delhi a few days back have complained about lack of even basic facilities at a quarantine centre in Langate area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the inmates who are under administrative quarantine at National Public School Langate quarantine centre said that 50 people are made to use single washroom, thereby exposing them to greater risk of contracting the virus. They said that reports of their samples, which were collected two days ago, have also not come yet. “There are no proper facilities in this quarantine centres. Windows are without windowpanes. We have not been provided hand wash, sanitizers and masks. We have to use single washroom,” they said. “Our samples were collected at Udhampur on 16th of May but reports are still awaited. We don’t know why they are taking so long to provide test reports. This has made us even more worried as any one of us might have contracted the virus who will turn out to be a silent carrier,” said one of the inmates. When contacted additional deputy commissioner Handwara Nazir Ahmad, said that the centre has all the necessary facilities available and he has personally examined it. “It has almost five washrooms functional (four outside the building), there is no lack of infrastructure. Arrangements have been made to ensure they don’t face any problem.” About the sample report he said that “it is up to the health authorities when they will sent the sample results and whosoever turns negative will be sent to home. Not only their sample reports are awaited but of several others as well.”—(KNO)
