Srinagar, March 28 (KNO) : Muslim Deeni Mahaz (MDM) has expressed grave concern over the deteriorating health condition of its incarcerated Ameer Dr Muhammad Qasim who is lodged at Udhampur Jail. Spokesperson of MDM in a statement issued to KNO said that Dr Qasim is suffering from acute Glaucoma and L4 L5 Disc problem and in absence of any medical treatment, his condition has deteriorated considerably. “Recently, the family members of Dr Qasim visited him in the Udhampur jail and were taken aback by his worsening health condition. He has developed acute gastroenterologie problem and was bed ridden last ten days. There is no medical doctor available in jail premises and he is not being taken for a medical checkup as well,” the statement said. The spokesperson said that Dr Qasim is being subjected to political vendetta due to his non-compromising political stand. “Dr Qasim was shifted from Srinagar Central Jail on the pretext of a medical check-up despite clear court orders that he should not be shifted from there. His shifting was against the standing instructions of Supreme Court of India which has clearly laid out that a life prisoner should be lodged at a jail nearest to his home,” he added. In Udhampur Jail, Dr Qasim has been denied medical treatment that has resulted in the worsening of his health condition. He is being held in solitary confinement and even the inmates are not even allowed to meet him, the statement added. According to the spokesperson, after serving 26 years of imprisonment, the way forward should have been to release him but the Indian government and its local stooges have shredded every word in the book of law in his case. The spokesperson appealed the world community and the human rights organisations to look into the case of Dr Qasim and act against the way a man is being held incarcerated for his political ideology. He appealed all the Muslims to pray for the wellbeing of the incarcerated visionary leader of Kashmiri resistance.(KNO)
