Month on, Bandipora village reels under darkness | KNO

Bandipora, Apr 03(KNO): A village in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district has been reeling under darkness since the past one month while authorities are allegedly showing no interest in getting the damaged community transformer repaired. Resident of Hamdaniya-colony Village of Nadihal told wire service-Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that from last one month, the area is without electricity. They claimed that on March 01 this year, the transformer of the village developed technical snag but has not been repaired so far. “At least one month have passed since then, there is not any effort by the concerned officials to get the transformer repaired,” the locals complained. They said that a new PDD transformer was installed in the area before few days ago. “The transformer developed again some technical snag and was taken for repair,” they said. However, till date it was not brought back neither was any effort made to provide alternate transformer to restore power supply to the village,” they said. The villagers also accused the Power Development Department (PDD) of being ‘indifferent’ to their woes. “We are facing immense hardships in absence of electricity. Our children are suffering badly during these lockdown days. We are unable to charge our mobile phones while students cannot study in evening,” they said. While appealing local DC Bandipora to intervene personally in the matter, they threatened to take streets in case power supply is not restored immediately. However, when contacted PDD official of the area said that repairing work is underway on this transformer, and in next two days it will be functional—(KNO)
