Srinagar, Jul 09 (KNO) : Commenting on the second report about human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir by forces, issued by United Nations Human Rights Commission, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Tuesday said that although ‘Indian atrocities and barbarism’ has crossed all the limits and is continuing unabated for the last 71 years.
“It is for the second time that UN has realized the gravity and severity of this grave and grim situation and recommended for the commission, to probe human rights violations,” Geelani said in a statement issued to KNO.
He said that this world body has testified our stand that Indian armed forces under the undemocratic and unethical shield of legal impunity continue the genocide of Kashmiris, with bullets, pellets, torture, rape, humiliation and incarceration. He further said that if this military onslaught is not stopped, people of the state will have to face tougher and harsher days ahead.
Commenting on the India’s rejection of the report, Geelani said that “it was expected as India has been holding this land by the deceit and denial for the last 71 years, but there ‘fairy trail rhetoric’ can no longer hold water in the age of modern and latest technology where nothing remains hidden from the sharp eyes of the lens, which displays even the minute details of the incident.”
Geelani appealed UN rights body to take serious note of this brazen denial of facts and pressurize India to abide by the universal obligations and fulfill long pending UN resolution on Jammu and Kashmir to pave way for permanent peace and prosperity in the region.(KNO)
