Police arrest three drug peddlers in Bandipora | KNO

Sumbal, Mar 23 (KNO): Three main narcotic drug peddlers were arrested from Sumbal area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district and contraband substance was recovered from their possession, police said on Monday. According to wire service-Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Senior superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora, Rahul Malik said, “Officers at a checkpoint established at Wangipora-Bala led by SDPO Sumbal Saqib Ghani and SHO Sumbal, Muneeb Ul Islam, on March 22 and arrested three drug peddlers. He said the trio was identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan of Bazipora Ajas, Tanveer Ahmad Rather son of Mohammad Munawar Rather of Nesbal, and Hilal Ahmad Wani son of Mohammed Sultan Wani of Wangipora Sumbal, he said. He said 101 bottles of Contraband Substance (Codeine phosphate) recovered from their possession. He further said that, Hilal Wani was the main drug peddler of the area who was operating since long and was evading the clutches of law. Yesterday also He was caught after a brief chase by multiple police teams. A Case under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Sumbal and further Investigation is on. “Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” he said. It is pertinent to mention that it is third big catch of drug peddlers and gamblers within a fortnight—(KNO)
