Police Station Anti-Corruption Bureau registers case against SMC officials, others | KNO

Srinagar, February 20 (KNO) : Anti-Corruption Bureau Srinagar has registered a case against officers and officials of SMC Srinagar and others, officials said. Officials told KNO that a probe was conducted by Anti-Corruption Bureau Kashmir, wherein it surfaced that SMC authorities Srinagar, in connivance with beneficiaries, had issued building permission No. 704 of 2015 dated 20-10-2015 on fast track basis on the pretext of they being flood victim of 2014, in violation of Court orders. “On scrutiny of records, it came to fore that, a committee comprising of Mohammed Ramzan Naib Tehsildar LAWDA, Nazir Ahmad JE R&B, Mohammad Hanief, Girdawar Tashwan Srinagar, Safdar Hussain Patwari Tashwan Srinagar, Sahibzada Mohammad Ilyas Agriculture Extension Officer Brain Nishat had been constituted by DC Srinagar for assessment of immovable properties damaged in floods of Sep. 2014 in the area of Malikyar Fathekadal Srinagar, who submitted a list wherein beneficiary Farooq Ahmad Sofi, son of Ab. Gafar Sofi of Malikyar Fathekadal Srinagar figured in both the lists including severely damaged and partially damaged lists) while as the residential area was never affected in the floods of 2014,” they said. They added the officers and officials of SMC Srinagar and members of the committee by abuse of their authority, illegally and fraudulently included name of flood victim, thus paved way for him to receive compensation to the tune of Rs. 5,41,400/- from the Govt. which resulted in corresponding loss to the state exchequer. “Since, facts disclosed during probe constitute commission of criminal misconduct by officers and officials of SMC Srinagar and members of the committee in conspiracy with the beneficiary U/S 5(1)(d) P.C Act, Svt-2006 r/w Section 120-B punishable U/S 5(2) of the Act. A case FIR No.06/019 has been registered in Police Station Anti Corruption Bureau Srinagar and investigation taken up,” officials said.(KNO)
