Scribes in Jammu constitute Journalists Association of Jammu & Kashmir | KNO

Jammu, March 18 (KNO) : he scribes in Jammu on Monday formed an association namely Journalists Association of Jammu & Kashmir for the welfare of scribes of digital media, columnists, article writers. This decision was taken in meeting of scribes associated with newspapers, radio and digital media held here today and subsequently announced their decision to establish the Journalists Association of Jammu & Kashmir. According to a statement issued to KNO, Vishal Bharti has been appointed as chairman of the Journalists Association of Jammu & Kashmir while Vikas Abrol would be Secretary General, Afzal Shah patron, Sudhir Kumar, Vice chairman, Vishal Sharma and Anjul Gupta named as secretaries, Atul Gupta treasurer, Surjeet Singh as Vice chairman, Tilak Mehra Secretary, Arif Munshi and Nawaz Rounyal as joint secretaries. Earlier, a memorandum approved at the time of the formation of the Journalists Association of Jammu & Kashmir stated that the role played by the media in highlighting problems being faced by media fraternity in the state had taken a crucial turn due to gap between administration and journalists. It added that an independent, stable and functional journalists body had become an indispensable element of society as well as becoming an essential element in the provision of basic human rights of journalists in the state. After the committee completes its membership process within a period of one year, the Journalists Association of Jammu & Kashmir has decided to formally hold its regular meetings to highlights issues of the journalists and photojournalists and other members from media fraternity. Newly appointed Journalists Association of Jammu & Kashmir Secretary General also expressed similar thoughts and said that the association, for the first time, had included all journalists and photo journalists so that the organization emerges as a powerful entity. The Journalists Association of Jammu & Kashmir will bring all journalists, photojournalists, digital media, columnists, article writers under one umbrella which would enable them to effectively play their role in the development and prosperity of the media persons.(KNO)
