Shocking! Girl ‘gang raped’ in Sumbal, four accused arrested | KNO

Sumbal, June 11 (KNO) : A 24-year-old girl was allegedly gang raped by four persons in Nowgam area of Sumbal in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. Reports reaching to KNO said that the incident came to light when a girl (name withheld) was first raped by a person who captured the video clip and later blackmailed her till she was raped by other three persons. Reports said the girl alleged she was raped by other three persons after they blackmailed her with the video. Sources said that family members of girl approached the police station Sumbal few days ago and registered a complaint against the accused. Reliable sources told KNO that the accused person Shabir Ahmad Rather (social activist) has very dark records of past. A senior police officer while confirming the incident said all the four accused including a woman have been arrested, adding that further investigations are going on. Officer identified the four accused as Ateeka Begum, wife of Ali Muhammad of Nowgam Sumbal, Firdous Ahmed, son of Ghulam Muhammad, Shabir Rather and Asghar Hussain sons of Ali Muhammad. Meanwhile, police has also registered a case under FIR number 106/2019 under section 376D, 342, 506 RPC at Police Station Sumbal and arrested four persons including a woman in the case. (KNO)
