Kulgam, July 20 (KNO) : The students from several Kulgam villages on Saturday staged a protest at Ringat village of Damhal Hanjipora in South Kashmir's Kulgam district to demand bridge over Nallah Vishu. Eyewitness told KNO that students including boys as well as girls blocked the roads to mark a protest against the authorities. They also raised slogans against the administration and demanded bridge over the Vishu Nallah. They said that the bridge must be constructed over the Nallah as the absence of connectivity is compelling them especially the student community to walk miles to reach their educational institutes. To minimize hardships, the villagers as per the students have constructed a makeshift bridge over the river. “During the rainy season, the makeshift bridge becomes slippery and it becomes risky to cross the bridge especially for women and children,” said another student Aasif Irshad. Executive Engineer R&B Division Kulgam, Mohammed Sidiq told KNO that the department has already forwarded its proposal to the government for the construction of bridge but they the funds were not released so far. “I will again remind the concerned authorities so that the funds will be released,” he added. (KNO)
