Anantnag, February 01 (KNO) : Two persons were on Friday killed while one was rescued alive after an avalanche hit Aru-Pahalgam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. An avalanche hit the Aru-Pahalgam area on Friday evening while snow clearance was going on and workers on board a JCB were swept away. Soon after the avalanche, authorities launched a rescue operation to rescue the missing three persons. “In the initial search, one person has been retrieved alive while two others died whose bodies were also retrieved from the snow,” an official told KNO, adding that the search is still going on. He said that the avalanche hit the area at Gudkhamb point while snow clearance of the Pahalgam -Aru road was going on. DC Anantnag has requisitioned helicopter to help in rescue of two missing persons.(KNO)
