Upper reaches receive fresh snow, rain lashes plains in Kashmir | KNO

Srinagar, Mar 25(KNO): Remote area of Gurez in Bandipora and other upper reaches received fresh snowfall while plains, including summer capital, Srinagar, and south Kashmir were lashed by rain in the valley on Wednesday. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Gurez, about 80 km from Bandipora, received fresh snow since early this morning, resulting in further dip in the day temperature. Razdan Pass connecting Gurez Valley with rest of the world has also received light to moderate snowfall, a local told wire service-Kashmir news observer (KNO), over the phone. The 80-km-long Gurez-Bandipora road remained closed since past five months due to accumulation of several feet of snowfall and slippery road conditions. Meanwhile, rains lashed areas falling in the valley's plains, including, south Kashmir and central Kashmir's districts including Srinagar. A Met department spokesman said, the Current Light to moderate rain over plains and Light snowfall over higher reaches likely to continue till today late evening and thereafter gradual improvement in weather, saying that another spell of Light to moderate Rain over plains and light snowfall over higher reaches most likely to occur on 27th March. Thereafter gradual improvement in weather is expected till 31st March with occasional cloudy weather, he said. However, despite rain the national highway, connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, through for one-way traffic vehicles will ply from Jammu to Srinagar. “Only vehicles carrying essential commodities are allowed to ply from Jammu to Srinagar,” an official said. It is to mention that the authorities have imposed strict restrictions in wake of coronavirus to avoid the gathering in whole Kashmir—(KNO)
