Bandipora, July 09 (KNO): BJP Jammu and Kashmir president Ravinder Raina on Thursday termed the killing of a BJP youth leader Wasim Bari as “huge loss” for the party and said that he was a “tiger” who stood for India in Kashmir. He said that this was not being tolerated by Pakistan that is why the militants killed Waseem Bari and his family members in a “cowardly attack.” Talking to reporters in Bandipora, Raina expressed heartfelt sympathy to the grief-stricken family members of slain BJP leaders and said that the nation will never forget the sacrifices of these “tigers” who have been helping the poor for the last many years. “Pakistani militants did not like these deeds of Waseem and that is why they killed his family.” He claimed that they will wipe out these Pakistani militants very soon and those who killed the family of Bari will meet the same fate. “These Pakistani militants also killed a child in Sopore a few days ago.” Raina later carried Waseem's coffin on his shoulder along with the locals to the graveyard where he along with his father and younger brother was laid to rest. Sheikh Waseem Bari, state executive member and former district president BJP along with his father, Sheikh Bashir Ahmad and younger brother Umer Sultan was killed by militants outside their residence in Muslim Abad area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district late last evening. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the trio was laid to rest in a local graveyard in Bandipora and scores of people including several BJP leaders participated in his funeral prayers. Meanwhile, BJP spokesman, Altaf Thakur while talking to reporters said that BJP has lost a precious member and a brave voice of the people. He said that several BJP members during the last couple of years have been killed by militants in the valley to suppress the voice of the pure nationalists. Thakur said that Waseem Bari was a leading member of the party who took care of people and was heading a lot of schemes generated for poor people. He further added that it was negligence from the police side that how militants opened fire on such a person having 8 security personnel as guards. He said that it was a security lapse as not a single bullet was fired toward militants to kill them and police should take it very seriously as already there was a threat to the lives of BJP leaders in the valley. Jammu Kashmir BJP General Secretary Ashok Koul also condemned the killing of Bari and his family members. While talking to reporters at Bandipora, he said that Waseem was working honestly for the party and was one of our best members. “We will definitely take revenge.” A senior security officer told KNO that the multiple search operations were launched in Bandipora villages following the killing of BJP leader and his family members—(KNO)
