Water scarcity triggers protests in Sopore | KNO

Sopore, August 10 (KNO): The inhabitants of Check Roday Khan area of Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Monday morning held a protest demonstration against Jal Shakti department for failing to provide adequate drinking water in the area.

The villagers told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they held a protest demonstration as they have been facing scarcity of drinking water for the last five years.

The residents said that they are being forced to drink contaminated water from the nearby streams as the department has failed to provide them potable drinking water. They appealed to the district administration and concerned department to restore the water supply in the area to mitigate their sufferings—(KNO)
