Famous Wullar lake is facing silent death: Sameer Bhat | KNO

Srinagar, February 12 (KNO) : Noted Social Activist and National Conference Youth Leader Er Sameer Iqbal Bhat here on today said that Famous Wular Lake is facing Silent Death due to the negligent attitude of the authorities and strongly urged that dredging should take place in the lake on war footing basis. In a statement issued to KNO, Bhat said that, Wullar Lake was once known as Asia’s largest freshwater lake, has turned into Sticky Swamp and is dying a silent death. He said that Wullar Provides livelihood for 70 villages situated on its banks directly, but unfortunately this Lake has now turned into a garbage dumping site by Municipal Committee, which is Quite unfortunate and matter of Concern. He also Strongly criticized the negligent attitude of the Govt about the famous lake, added that the attitude towards this famous as criminal. He appealed people of Bandipora to come forward to save the Lake for the conservation, Preservation and Restoration of Wullar Lake, So that real and historical glory of Wullar lake is restored.(KNO)
