Baramulla, Sep 25 (KNO): The district administration Baramulla with the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) on Thursday organized a Local Kalyan Mela at Dak Banglow Baramulla as part of the ongoing Sewa Parv, drawing an enthusiastic response from the public.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the mela aimed at spreading awareness about various government schemes and welfare initiatives, with stalls set up by all Municipal Councils of Baramulla district, including MC Uri, Sopore, Kunzar, Pattan, Wattergam, Baramulla and Tangmarg.
Departments like the Power Development, Revenue, Education and leading banking institutions also showcased their services and flagship programs.
Officials briefed the public on key schemes such as PMAY 2.0, with municipal councils highlighting its progress, while the Power Development Department promoted the Muft Bijli Yojna. The Revenue Department provided on-spot assistance for document verification and banks explained various financial support schemes.
A major attraction of the event was the “Run for Housing”, flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, which drew participation from locals and officials alike.
On the occasion, the DC, joined by the MLA Baramulla, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir and CEO Municipal Council Baramulla Farhana Shaukat, also took part in a plantation drive to reinforce the message of environmental protection.
As part of the Grah Pravesh ceremony under PMAY 2.0, the DC handed over dummy keys to beneficiaries who have completed construction of their houses, marking a milestone in the mission of housing for all—(KNO)
