Kupwara, Nov 17 (KNO): Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Legislative Assembly and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Sunil Sharma on Monday said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police face higher operational risks and need stronger support from the government, saying that the force requires updated welfare measures and enhanced risk allowance. LoP Sharma, who visited the family of SIA Inspector Asrar Ul Haq, killed in the Nowgam Police Station blast, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police is engaged in counter insurgency operations and fights terrorism daily. He said the Centre stands with every affected family. He said he was directed by the Home Minister to meet the households hit by the explosion and convey that the nation shares their loss. LoP Sharma said Inspector Asrar was a capable and upright officer, saying the loss is a blow for the entire country. He assured that the family will receive employment support, adding that the assistance is a right for the family because the officer gave his life in service. The Leader of Opposition also said the government has ordered a transparent investigation into any negligence that may have contributed to the blast. He said the inquiry will move ahead without political interference. LoP Sharma, in the meanwhile, asked the National Conference government to show what they can deliver. He said people expect the ruling party to offer clear support to the families. He said the families deserve additional help and the government in power should demonstrate its capability. Earlier in the day, the LoP inquired about the health and wellbeing of those injured in the Nowgam blast. Accompanied by senior party leaders, Sharma visited Ujala Cygnus hospital to meet the injured persons. Sharma conveyed his heartfelt sympathies, and assured them of all possible support during this difficult time. He expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and prayed for their swift and complete recovery. Sharma, who was accompanied by former MLA Nowshera Ravinder Raina and senior leader Anwar Khan, expressed solidarity with the families of the victims on behalf of the BJP and called for immediate relief and comprehensive medical care for those affected. As per a statement issued here, Sharma appreciated the dedicated efforts of the doctors, nurses, and staff who are working tirelessly to provide the best possible care. Sharma conveyed heartfelt wishes for the swift and complete recovery of all the injured. He emphasized that the administration and public representatives must stand shoulder to shoulder with the affected families and ensure that they receive every necessary assistance. He assured the families and hospital authorities that he would closely follow up on the treatment and ensure that all required support is provided without delay. He reiterated that the safety and welfare of the people remain the top priority and that such unfortunate incidents must be prevented in the future through better safety protocols and preparedness.
