Srinagar, Jan 15 (KNO): The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sought an explanation from its Sopore leader Irfan Ali over a statement attributed to him that was circulated in the party's local WhatsApp group, terming it a ‘serious misrepresentation of facts.’ According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), PDP in an explanation letter issued by the party's General Secretary reads, “It has been observed that you claimed to have held a conversation with the worthy party president and, acting upon his directions, instructed the zonal president to proceed further in the matter concerned. This assertion is entirely false, misleading and devoid of any factual basis." The party clarified that its president is ‘completely unaware’ of the referenced matter and has neither issued such directions nor authorized Ali to make the claims. The notice describes the statement as a ‘grave instance of miscommunication’ with the potential to "create confusion, mislead party functionaries, and undermine organizational discipline." Ali has been directed to provide an ‘immediate, clear and unambiguous explanation’ and cautioned against making any unverified, unauthorized or misleading statements in party forums henceforth. Meanwhile, PDP district president Mohd Rafique Rather told KNO he was unaware of the issue. “I read it just now, but I don't know anything about what's the matter,” Rather said. It is noteworthy that Ali was earlier suspended from the party, with the suspension revoked on December 13, 2025—(KNO)
