Srinagar, Jan 12 (KNO): Anjali and her husband Ajit had planned months before, to visit Kashmir in January to witness snowfall. Such was the excitement that the couple had planned many activities in Kashmir during their stay of one week. With no major snowfall of the season yet in Kashmir, the duo was disheartened. It was then, their travel agents planned a trip to Sinthantop, which still has some snow compared to the major destinations of the valley. “Although we couldn’t see snowfall, there was still some snow there. We walked over the snow and clicked pictures since it was in our bucket list to see snowfall,” Anjali told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Like Anjali scores of the tourists have included Sinthantop in their itinerary to to witness the winter magic that has eluded the valley this season. Kashmir, known for its pristine snow-covered landscapes during the winter months, has been experiencing an unusual warmth, with no major snowfall yet. This has prompted tourists and locals alike to seek out alternative destinations to experience the winter charm. Sinthan Top has become the go-to spot for those yearning for a snowy escape. Tourists, armed with cameras and warm clothing, are making the most of the available snow at Sinthan Top, indulging in various snow related activities. “We don’t want to spoil the trip for our guests. So we have included a day trip to Sinthan Top for our guests in the itinerary so that they could enjoy snow,” said Javaid Ahmad Khan, a travel agent. Similarly, Marchoi Top in Ganderbal district is also becoming a go-to-place for the tourists to witness and enjoy snow. “Unfortunately, we don’t have enough snowfall this season. There is a little snow in Marchoi Top where some tourists prefer to visit,” said Mohammad Arif, founder of Cliffhangers India. Thajwas glacier in Sonmarg is also receiving a good number of tourists who visit the destination to witness snow. Travel agents said these destinations are witnessing a good rush of tourists in the absence of snowfall in mainland Kashmir—(KNO)
