Amid dearth of medicos, BUMS doctors tackle rush of patients at SDH Kupwara | KNO

Kupwara, May 22 (KNO) : Amid dearth of medicos across the Valley, the Bachelors in Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) doctors are allegedly running casualty at Sub District Hospital Kupwara in northern Kashmir. Several attendees informed KNO only BUMS doctors have been made available at the hospital to tackle the rush of the patients, which has affected the health-care badly. The BUMS doctors who are less knowledgeable about English medicines are prescribing these medicines to admitted patients at SDH Kupwara. “My uncle is admitted here since morning but only BUMS doctors are available in the causality who prescribe English medicine and are treating him. Many of the patients besides my Uncle are being treated by these doctors, Mushtaq Ahmad, an attendant told KNO. Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kupwara, Dr. Zaffar Ahmad told KNO that there was dearth of doctors following which the BUMS doctors were placed under supervision of MD so that patients don not suffer.(KNO)
