Hailstorm wrecks havoc in Kupwara, farmers demand compensation | KNO

Srinagar, June 12 (KNO) : The farmers in northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday demanded compensation for the loss suffered due to heavy hailstorm during last late evening.The farmers as per KNO correspondent suffered huge loss, thus causing severe damage to Horticulture and other crops across the district. Reports said that on Tuesday late evening amid rainfall, hailstorm damaged Horticulture and other crops in different parts including Zurhama, Madhama, Manigah, Awoora, Qaziabad Handwara and Gujarpati Kupwara. Hailstorm which according to locals remained for quite few minutes only but accumulated almost 3-4 inches and damaged the crops, “we have no other means than this production,” the farmers said. They appealed the local administration to compensate them so that they could heave a sigh of relief.(KNO)
