Four arrested by Budgam Police for thrashing teachers, students of Bla School | KNO

Srinagar, July 15 (KNO) : In wake of the attack on teachers and students of a private school in Budgam, the J&K police has arrested four accused in the incident and recorded statement of the injured teachers as well. On Saturday, the teachers and students of Hanfia Model Higher Secondary School (HMHSS), Kreeri in Baramulla were thrashed by youth at Raiyaar area of Budgam district. The teachers were beaten during their return from tourist spot Doodpathri where they had gone for a picnic with the school children. While returning from the picnic destination, the one of the school buses developed some technical fault at Rayaar area of Budgam district. “While witnessing this, we stopped all the buses to help the concerned bus driver. In the meantime some students including girls came out of their bus to purchase some junk food,” a teacher told KNO. In the meantime, a group of youth assembled at the stop and resorted to photography and videography of girls in buses and those purchasing eatables from local shop. “Our staff objected to the photography due to which the youth got furious and beat the staff members and students for not allowing them to capture pictures and videos of girl students of the school,” the teacher told KNO. According to teachers, in the incident a teacher sustained serious head injury who is undergoing treatment at SKIMS Soura. Meanwhile, a police official told KNO that they have recorded the statement of the injured teachers and have arrested four accused who thrashed the teachers and frightened students on Saturday while they were on picnic to Doodhpathri. “A report was received in Police Station Khan Sahib of Budgam district that some clashes happened between a group of students and teachers and unknown individuals at Raiyaar. Following this a case was registered and investigations have been taken up as well,” a police official told KNO. The official told KNO that statement of injured was recorded during the course of investigations and four accused have been arrested as well. “Further investigations are still going on,” the Police official told KNO. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Budgam confirmed to KNO that FIR under relevant sections was registered in this regard. "The matter has already come to the notice of Police and action as per law will follow,” he said. (KNO)
