DAK condoles demise of Dr Qazi Aslam | KNO

Srinagar, August 01 (KNO) : Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Thursday held a condolence meeting at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar to mourn the demise of Dr Qazi Muhammad Aslam former head department of Anatomy at GMC, who breathed his last yesterday at his Sonwar residence after a brief illness. He was 85. Paying rich tributes to the deceased, DAK members prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. Saddened over the death, President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan in the meeting said, “It is a great loss to the medical fraternity and his death has resulted in a great void in the field of medicine.” “A medical luminary, Dr Aslam passed his MBBS from Indore Medical College, Madhya Pradesh and after completing his postgraduation he joined GMC Srinagar as a faculty member and became head of Anatomy department,” Dr Nisar said in a statement issued to KNO. “A renowned name in his field, he was instrumental in shaping the department of Anatomy at GMC. He established the department of Anatomy at SKIMS Medical College Srinagar and ASCOMS Jammu,” Dr Nisar stated. “A legendary teacher, Dr Aslam raised the level of medical education at GMC to the highest standards. His contributions in making and maintaining GMC as the highest seat of medical learning will be remembered for a long time to come,” Dr Nisar further said. “He was a true disciplinarian and an able administrator who not only taught academics but inculcated moral principles and ethics in medical students,” said Dr Nisar.(KNO)
