Srinagar, May 20 (KNO): A 15-day-old baby along with three other minors and two pregnant ladies are among 73 persons who were tested positive for novel coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, taking tally of total cases in the Union Territory to 1390. Details gathered by news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reveals that among 73 new cases were detected in Jammu and Kashmir. It added that 44 among them were tested at SKIMS, 17 at CD hospital and remaining at other private and government hospitals. Among 73 new cases, 37 belong to Kashmir division while as 36 are from Jammu division. With this, the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached to 1188 including 612 recoveries and 16 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division has reached to 202 including 66 recoveries and 2 deaths. They added that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 694 including 560 from Kashmir division and 134 from Jammu division. "Cases tested positive in J&K include 5 each from Anantnag and Kulgam, one each from Pulwama and Bandipora, eight from Baramulla and 17 from Kupwara in Kashmir division while as 20 from Jammu, five from Udhampur, three each from Ramban and Kishtwar, two from Samba and one each from Kuthua, Poonch and Reasi in Jammu division," officials disclosed. Dr G H Yatoo Nodal officer for covid-19 at SKIMS told KNO that out of 1992 samples tested at SKIMS today, 44 were found positive. Dr Salim Khan Nodal Officer for covid-19 at GMC Srinagar told KNO that out of 706 samples tested, 17 came positive. “The reports of 166 samples are under process and over 600 more samples were received today,” he said. Lt Col Inam Danish Khan from Army's Command Hospital Udhampur told KNO that 1457 samples were tested at the hospital in last 24 hours however none was found positive. Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Wednesday witnessed 18th COVID-19 related death. Nodal Officer for COVID-19 at SKIMS G H Yatoo said that the deceased woman was admitted from last few days in the isolation ward of the tertiary care hospital and had comorbidity.“She was in isolation after testing positive. She was suffering from Necrotizing pancreatitis, having high mortality,” he said. As per officials figures, 252 positive cases including four deaths and 89 recoveries are from Anantnag, 169 including five deaths and 97 recoveries are from Srinagar, 171 including one death and 10 recoveries are from Kulgam, 138 including one death and 128 recoveries are from Bandipora, 129 including 91 recoveries and four deaths are from Baramulla, 109 including 98 recoveries are from Shopian, 118 including 48 recoveries are from Kupwara, 58 including 30 recoveries and one death are from Budgam, 25 including 15 recoveries are from Ganderbal and 19 including 6 recoveries are from Pulwama. In Jammu division, 67 including 31 recoveries and one death are from Jammu district , 37 including 01 recovery is from Kathua, 33 including 01 death and 21 recoveries are from Udhampur, 27 including 01 recovery is from Ramban, 16 including 06 recoveries from Samba, 08 including 04 recoveries from Rajouri, 04 each from Poonch and Reasi with 01 recovery in Reasi, 05 from Kishtwar including 01 recovery and 01 from Doda. As per the daily information bulletin 122,964 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 33,113 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 964 persons are in hospital isolation while as 86 persons are under hospital quarantine. According to the bulletin, 69,161 persons have completed surveillance period and 19,892 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 101,950 samples are available –(KNO)
