Magam bus stand turns into garbage dumping site, authorities in slumber | KNO

Budgam, May 21 (KNO): The bus stand in Magam area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district is rapidly turning into garbage dumping site as the concerned have failed to remove the garbage that could be seen piled up there. Witnesses told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the bus stand is rapidly turning into garbage dumping site, thus posing a grave threat to nearby residents amid the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. “The nearby residents and shopkeepers of Magam are seen throwing garbage and other waste material inside the bus stand. The garbage dumped inside the bus stand produces foul smell,” they said. The locals told KNO that the garbage dumped inside the bus stand is causing a lot of inconvenience to daily commuters and passers-by and the authorities were watching as mute spectators. When contacted executive officer, municipal committee Magam, Bashir Ahmed said that they are continuously cleaning and collecting waste from the said place and if there is any waste material still lying there it will be cleared soon—(KNO)
