COVID-19: 3 Bakers, a mutton seller among 40 new cases in J&K, tally mounts to 1489 | KNO

Srinagar, May 22 (KNO): Three bakers, a mutton dealer and a year-old boy were among 40 people who tested positive for the Coronavirus on Friday in taking the total tally of positive cases in the UT to 1489 Bakers testing positive for the deadly pandemic comes at a time when people are flooding Bakery shops to buy various varieties of biscuits, cakes etc ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr slated for Sunday or Monday, depending on the sighting of moon. At the same time, people are also flooding the shops of mutton sellers in view of the upcoming festival of Eid as cooking mutton varieties has been the long practice of Kashmiri people Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that among new 40 cases, 10 were tested positive at SKIMS, 07 at CD hospital, 16 at JVC Bemina, one at Army's command hospital Srinagar and rest at other private labs. Among 40 new cases, 33 belong to Kashmir division while as 07 are from Jammu division, officials said, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 1271 including 650 recoveries and 18 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division has reached to 218 including 70 recoveries and 2 deaths They added that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 603 including 605 from Kashmir division and 146 from Jammu division. "Cases tested positive in J&K include 2 from Anantnag, 1 from Kulgam,2 from Srinagar, 1 from Budgam 3 from Kupwara, 18 from Shopian, 3 from Baramulla and 2 from Pulwama n Kashmir division while as 8 from Jammu including 4  from Samba district, 2 from Rajouri and one from Poonch," officials disclosed Dr G H Yatoo Nodal officer for Covid-19 at SKIMS told KNO that out of 2088 samples tested on Friday 10 were found positive and 8782 samples are waiting for tests He said that among 10 new positive cases, 03 each are from Baramulla and Kupwara, 02 from Shopian and 01 each from Srinagar and Budgam Dr Salim Khan Nodal officer for Covid-19 at GMC Sringar told KNO that 756 samples tested at CD hospital, 07 were found positive while as reports of 166 samples are pending and over 800 samples were received on Friday. The positive cases include 65-year-old female from Malnag Anantnag, 85-year-old-male from Qazigund Kulgam, 25 year old male from Drarangan Anantnag, 38 year old lady from Bandipora, admitted at LD hospital being shifted to JVC Bemina, 48-year-old lady from Kargil admitted at SMHS suffering from Pneumonia and 30 and 55 year old males from Pingelan  Pulwama Officials from Pulwama said that consequent upon the random aggressive sampling taking place in red zone villages of Pulwama ,two bakers belonging to common family in Pinglena have tested positive for COVID-19 They said that a total no 21 cases have tested positive of COVID-19 in the district including 12 active positive cases besides nine recovered ones. They further added that aggressive contact tracing has been initiated and all the contacts are being sampled besides placing the suspects in administrative quarantine Officials from Shopian said a lady from Chatawatan was tested positive for coronavirus were tested positive, dozens of samples were taken from the village, among them 16 were tested positive, among them one belongs to the family of already positive patient while as 15 are her neighbours They further added that the other two patients from the district are from Palpora and Memendar villages of district, among them one is Baker and other a mutton seller. Officials from JVC Bemina said that out of 378 samples tested at the hospital on Friday, 16 all from Chatawatan Shopian were found positive They said that 16 positive cases include 8 males of age 1, 18, 24, 25, 28, 30, 45 and 65 and 8 females of age 7, 15, 17, 19, 26, 42, 65 and 70 .  Lt Col Inam Danish Khan from Army's Command Hospital Udhampur said that out of 832 samples tested at the hospital, a traveler from Budgam has been tested positive As per officials figures 266 positive cases including four deaths and 109 recoveries are from Anantnag, 193 including six deaths and 99 recoveries are from Srinagar, 193 including one death and 12 recoveries are from Kulgam, 138 including one death and 129 recoveries are from Bandipora, 132 including 91 recoveries and four deaths are from Baramulla, 127 including 102 recoveries are from Shopian,  128 including 49 recoveries are from Kupwara, 63 including 35 recoveries and two deaths are from Budgam, 27 including 15 recoveries are from Ganderbal and 21 including 9 recoveries are from Pulwama In Jammu division, 68 including 31 recoveries and one death are from Jammu district , 40 including 04 recoveries arefrom Kathua, 33 including 01 death and 21 recoveries are from Udhampur, 30 including 01 recovery is from Ramban, 20 including 7 recoveries from Samba, 10 including 04 recoveries from Rajouri, 05 from Poonch and 04 with 01 recovery in Reasi, 07 from Kishtwar including 01 recovery and 01 from Doda As per the daily information bulletin 128,517 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 32,077 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 749 persons are in hospital isolation while as 73 persons are under hospital quarantine According to the bulletin, 70,466 persons have completed surveillance period and 25,132 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 114,859 samples are available Out of 114,859 the number of samples tested negative stands at 113,370 while as 1489  have been tested positive, among them 749 are active and 720 persons have recovered and 20 persons have died—(KNO)
