Govt facilitates 13120 migrant workers aboard several special trains from Katra | KNO

Jammu, May 23 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Government has so far sent back 13120 outbound migrant workers stranded in different parts of the Union Territory aboard several special trains from Katra till May 23 including about 2206 migrant workers who left Katra aboard a special train to Chatarpur in Madhya Pradesh today.  As per the Nodal Officer J&K, several Shramik special trains departed to MP/Chattisgarh since May 19 from Katra Railway Station. “More than 13000 migrant workers stranded in J&K have boarded from Katra Railway Station for Chhattisgarh & MP since 19-5-2020 till date. Today first train departed at 1PM carrying 2206 migrant workers to Chatarpur (MP). Two more trains will depart today. Arrangements are being made for workers of other states too. Nodal officer J&K has repeated his request to all migrant workers to await their turn in case they are desirous of going to their home state. He said workers facing difficulty in registration can contact the district administration.   Meanwhile, besides facilitating smooth arrival of residents of J&K UT from rest of the country and their transportation to home districts, Lakhanpur Facilitation Centre is also facilitating outbound Labourers for onward journey to their native places –(KNO)
