Advisor Baseer Khan inspects development works in Block Marh | KNO

Emphases to focus on wage oriented employment generation

Jammu, May 29 (KNO): Taking a step ahead in its endeavour to bring the Governance at the doorsteps of the masses, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Baseer Khan Friday conducted an extensive tour of village Gajansoo  in block Marh  to inspect various development works being executed under MGNREGA, PMAY, Back 2 Village programme and other centrally sponsored schemes.

Secretary RDD Sheetal Nanda, Director RDD, ACD Jammu, Block Development Officer Marh besides senior officers of the concerned department and Sarpanchs and Panchs of villages accompanied the Advisor during the day long tour.

During the tour, the BDO Marh apprised the Advisor about the different development works being executed by Rural Development Department under MGNREGA, PMAY and B2V.

He informed that to provide abrupt and incessant relief to the farmers a Khul is being constructed with an estimated cost of Rs.1 lakh 19 thousand under MGNREGA at panchayat Gajansoo. He also informed that desilting work of a khul is also being carried out with an estimated cost of 61 thousand which will also provide smooth flow of water to the agriculture lands of the farmers.

The Advisor further inspected a 250 KVA transformer installed with an estimated cost of 8 lakh 98 thousand under Back 2 Village scheme. Further, he also inspected the construction work of a Bio Gas Plant under Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen at Dhateryal Panchayat which is being carried out with an estimated cost of 12 lakh. He also inspected the houses constructed under the PMAY scheme.

While reviewing the development works, the Advisor said that these works pertains to strengthening rural infrastructure and augmenting of power and water supply, conservation of water bodies & irrigation and flood protection works in rural areas.

The Advisor emphasized upon the officers to focus on wage oriented employment generation so that poor and needy people can work to earn their livelihood which is also the ultimate thought behind initiating these development works under various schemes.   

The Advisor gave on spot instructions to the officers of concerned department to do quality work and complete the works under execution in a time bound manner. He directed the officers to work with zeal to achieve the targets on time ensuring the delivery of the benefits to the rural masses.

The Advisor also interacted with the PRI members to acquaint them with different schemes of various departments under implementation. He asked PRI members to stay in close touch with the villagers to understand their issues and to keep raising them with relevant authorities –(KNO)
