Vehicles registered prior to Aug 2019 to be charged fixed road, token tax | KNO

Srinagar, June 02 (KNO): The government on Tuesday announced that all motor vehicles registered prior to August last year will be charged fixed road, token tax in quarterly, half yearly and annual installment. An order issued by Commissioner/ Secretary to Government, Transport Department, Hirdesh Kumar under number TR-11/MVD/2016-1, dated 02-06-2020, a copy of which lies with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads that “In exercise of powers conferred under Section 3 of Jammu & Kashmir Motor Vehicle Taxation Act, 1957 and in partial modification of notification SRO-492 of 2019 dated: 01.08.2019, and clarification issued on the subject from time to time, the Government hereby directs that All Motor Vehicles registered prior to issuance of SRO-492 of 2019 dated: 01.08.2019 shall be charged fixed road/token tax in quarterly, half yearly and annual installment.” “All Motor Vehicles registered after 01.08.2019 shall pay the road/token tax at the rate notified vide SRO-492 of 2019 dated: 01.08. 2019. For registration of the vehicles, registered/bought from other states/Union Territories, the token/road tax shall be levied at the rates notified vide notification SRO-492 of 2019 dated: 01.08.2019 on pro-rata basis,” it added –(KNO)
