Anantnag, June 03 (KNO): The family of an expected mother on Wednesday alleged negligence by the hospital staff at a COVID dedicated hospital in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district. However, the hospital authorities refuted the allegations leveled by the family. Relatives of a pregnant lady from Hugam area in Srigufwara belt of Anantnag district told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a pregnant lady who was tested positive for COVID-19 a few days ago was put under hospital quarantine at COVID dedicated hospital in Bijbehara. They alleged that despite calling the staff several times, nobody attended the lady for many hours. “She delivered a baby outside the hospital but no one helped her and she was taken back to the hospital by some local youth,” they said. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Anantnag, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad however refuted the allegations and told KNO that there is no medical negligence in the case as the lady was attended by doctors including the Medical Superintendent. He said it was a normal delivery and both mother and baby are fine. However, he said that the doctors were unable to remove her placenta at the hospital. “Due to retention of placenta, she was shifted to JVC Bemina in a COVID-19 designated ambulance,” he said –(KNO)
