Kulgam, June 04 (KNO): Militants on Thursday afternoon attacked a police party in Kanjikulla area of Yaripora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district in which a civilian sustained serious bullet injuries, officials said. A police official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the militants fired upon the vehicle of police in Kanjkulla area which was repulsed by forces on time, however, a civilian sustained injuries. “The injured civilian was shifted to GMC Anantnag for treatment,” he said. Block Medical Officer (BMO) Yaripora, Kulgam Dr Nighat Nasreen said that the injured civilian has been identified as Imitiyaz Ahmed who has sustained a bullet wound in his chest. “We are attending to him,” she said. Inspector General of Police Kashmir range Vijay Kumar said that the firing incident happened at Yaripora, Kulgam. “Militants who were in a vehicle fired upoun a police party in the market area. No policemen injured however, one civilian has got injured in the incident,” he said. Meanwhile, Police sources said that alert has been sounded in Yaripora area of Kulgama a high vigil is being maintained to track down the militants—(KNO)
