IPS officer Ahfad-ul-Mujtaba among appointees

Srinagar, June 24 (KNO): In a significant development, Jammu & Kashmir government on Wednesday appointed six members of the prestigious Public Service Commission. The Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu today ordered appointment of S. Ahfad-ul-Mujtaba (Director General, Prosecution), Syed Iqbal Aga (retired development commissioner Works), Subash Gupta(retired District and Sessions Judge), Des Raj (Chief Engineer Public Works(R&B Jammu), Sameer Bharati(retired IFS officer) and Showkat Ahmad Zargar( retired), Associate Professor(Mathematics), Higher Education Department) A direct recruit Jammu & Kashmir Police Service officer of 1984 batch, Mujtaba has served in key positions and played a vital role in maintaining police –public relations during his service career of 36 years. Before his promotion as SP, he has served as deputy superintendent of Police and Sub- Divisional Police Officer in Poonch, Akhnoor, Kishtwar and other areas of Jammu & Kashmir. He has served as district police chief of Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam , Ganderbal and Rajouri, considered very districts. Mujataba also served as deputy inspector of Central Kashmir range spread over sensitive districts of Srinagar, Ganderbal and Budgam. After his elevation as IGP, he held vital positions of IGP Crime, Managing Director Police Housing Corporation and Director General ,Prosecution. A resident of Hawal Srinagar, Syed Iqbal Aga retired as development commissioner, Works on January 31, 2020. After appointed as junior engineer in Roads & Buildings Department in 1984, Aga held different positions before being appointed as Chief Engineer. He served as Chief Engineer SKUAST Srinagar and Development Commissioner Works before attaining superannuation. Sameer Bharati, an IFS officer, also attained superannuation on January 31, 2020, He retired from government services as Chief Conservator of Forest Jammu after rendering more than 36 year of services. He joined the forest department as ACF in 1984 and was inducted in  IFS in 1999. Des Raj , Chief Engineer, Roads & Buildings department Kashmir, was set to attain superannuation in December this year. He has held key positions in R&B department like Superintending Engineer PWD circle Doda and Chief Engineer PMGSY. Subash Gupta, former district and sessions judge, attained superannuation in March 2020. Showkat Ahmad Zargar, a retired associate professor of Mathematics, is from Buchpora, Srinagar. He retired in April this year. The members were appointed nearly a month after former chief secretary, BR Sharma was appointed as chairman of the prestigious body mandated to conduct recruitment for gazetted posts—(KNO)
