COVID pandemic on a ‘death spree’ in J&K: Five die in a day, toll 101 | KNO

Srinagar, June 30 (KNO): The death toll due to novel-Coronavirus mounted to 101 in Jammu and Kashmir as five more patients died due to the deadly virus on Tuesday, officials said. The five patients, who died in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday include a 65-year old man from Qamarwari Srinagar, 23-year-old youth from Shopian, 55-year-old man from Bhaghat Srinagar, 52-year-old man from Baramulla and 85-year- old woman from Kuthua. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among five patients who died on Tuesday, two died at CD hospital, one at SMHS, one at JVC Bemina and one at GMC Jammu. Dr Nazir Choudhary Medical Superintendent at SMHS told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that 65-year-old man from Qamarwari, who was admitted at SMHS on Monday as a patient of bilateral pneumonia and was tested positive few hours after his death. Dr Saleem Tak, Medical Superintendent CD hospital told KNO that a 23-year-old youth from Shopian who was shifted from SMHS on June 29th after he was tested positive for COVID-19, died at hospital on Tuesday afternoon. He said the patient was admitted with severe head injury and died today. He said the other patient from Srinagar was undergoing treatment from sometime at hospital after she was tested positive. However, he said she was recently detected negative and reports of her fresh samples are awaited Dr Shifa Deva, Medical Superintendent at JVC Bemina told KNO that a 52-year-old man who was tested positive for COVID-19, was admitted at JVC on June 27 with bilateral Pneumonia and other ailments. He was kept in ICU where he died on Tuesday due to Cardiac arrest, she said. Kathua district of Jammu also recorded first death due to COVID today after an 85 year old woman who was undergoing treatment since long with many ailments, died on Tuesday morning With five more deaths in a day, the death toll due to COVID-19 has reached to 101 in J&K including 89 from Kashmir and 12 from Jammu division—(KNO)
