Srinagar, July 02 (KNO): The COVID-19 related deaths Wednesday showed a spurt in Jammu and Kashmir as 10 persons died in the past 24 hours due to the deadly virus taking the number of people who died of pandemic in the UT so far to 117.
The 10 patients who died at J&K who died in past 24 hours include a 63-year-old man from Doda district, 73-year-old man from Kawoosa, Budgam, 65-year-old man from Nadigam, Shopian, 60-year-old male from Habba kadal Srinagar, 65-year-old male from Kulgam, 65-year-old male from Tarigam, Kulgam, a 73-year-old lady from Batamallo, Srinagar, 75-year-old male from Budgam, 55-year-old male from Hatipora Kulgam and 65-year-old male from Sopore.
Officials said that among 10 deaths, five were reported at SKIMS, three at SMHS, one at CD hospital and one at GMC Jammu.
Officials at the GMC Jammu told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a 63-year-old man, who had suffered a brain hemorrhage and was under treatment at GMC Jammu for around a week where from he was shifted to army hospital Udhampur. “On June 30, the main died after which his samples were taken the results of which came positive today,” said District Magistrate Doda, Dr Sagar Doifode. He said the main was cremated as per Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) at his native village in Jammu.
Medical Superintendent at SKIMS, Soura Dr Farooq Jan said that 75-year-old man from Kawoosa area of Budgam district who was tested positive for Covid-19 died at around 7:30 pm today at the hospital. “Patient was suffering from community acquired pneumonia and other ailments and died due to Cardiopulmonary arrest,” he said.
Dr G H Yatoo, Nodal officer for Covid-19 at SKIMS said that a 65-year-old resident of Shopian who was tested positive for Covid-19 and admitted in infectious Disease block on July 1 died at SKIMS on Thursday at 4:45 pm.
He said that patient was suffering from Coronary Artery disease besides bilateral pneumonia.
Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent at SKIMS said that a 65-year old man from Tarigam Kulgam who was admitted at SKIMS on 23 June after he was referred from GMC Anantnag died at SKIMS at 2:30 PM.
He said that patient who was tested positive for Covid-19 and referred from GMC Anantnag in view of Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP).
Dr G H Yatoo Nodal officer for Covid-19 at SKIMS told KNO that a 55-year-old man from Yaripora area of Kulgam who was undergoing treatment since June 22, died during night at around 12:10 am. Patient was having underlying medical conditions, he said.
He further added that a 65-year-old male from Sopore who was also admitted on June 22 dies at SKIMS at 3:05 due to sudden cardiopulmonary arrest.
Patient was suffering from Community acquired pneumonia(CAP) besides HTN, T2DM and other ailments, he said.
Dr Nazir Choudhary, Medical Superintendent at SMHS told KNO that the male patient from Kulgam who was admitted at SMHS on 30 June as a case of Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) and hypokalaemia died at SMHS today morning. He said that patient was tested positive for Covid-19 after his death. Dr Nazir said that the two elderly patients one each from Batamallo and Budgam died a few hours after they were admitted at the hospital.
"Their swabs were taken which came positive and both the patients were having underlying problems like Hypertension, Pneumonia, COPD besides other ailments," he said.
Dr Saleem Tak, Medical Superintendent at CD hospital said that a 60-year-old male from Srinagar who was tested positive for Covid-19 died at CD hospital on Thursday afternoon.
He said that the patient was suffering from hypertension, diabetes and Pneumonia. With 10 more deaths, the death toll in J&K has reached 117 including 14 from Jammu and 103 from Kashmir division. With 27 deaths, Srinagar district has highest fatalities followed by 18 in Baramulla, 16 in Kulgam, 13 in Shopian, 9 Anantnag and 10 in Budgam, six in Kupwara, four in Pulwama and one in Bandipora in Kashmir division while as 8 from Jammu and two from Doda, one in Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri and Udhampur in Jammu division—(KNO)
