COVID-19: 14 BSF men, 05 soldiers among 154 test positive in J&K, tally rises to 7849 | KNO

Srinagar first district to report over 1000 cases, Recovery rate reaches 63. 37 percent in UT

Srinagar, June 02 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Thursday recorded 154 new positive cases for the COVID-19 that include 14 BSF men, 3 CRPF men, five soldiers and a year-old baby, taking the total number of cases in the UT to 7849. Interestingly, Srinagar has become the first district in the UT to report over 1000 Covid positive cases even though J&K has a recover rate of 63.37 per cent. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among new cases, 65 were tested positive at SKIMS, 27 at JVC Bemina and rest at other hospitals. Among 154 new cases, 134 belong to Kashmir division while as 20 are from Jammu division, officials said, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached to 6199 including 3770 recoveries and 101 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division has reached to 1650 including 1204 recoveries and 14 deaths. The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 2760 including 2328 from Kashmir division and 432 from Jammu division. With 118 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 4974 which is 63.37 percent of the total cases. "Cases tested positive in J&K include 51 from Srinagar, 15 from Kulgam, 19 from Baramulla, 01 from Shopian, 17 from Anantnag, 10 from Pulwama, 12 from Budgam, 2 from Bandipora and 07 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 20 from Jammu division include 4 each from Jammu and Udhampur, 5 from Samba, 6 from Doda and one from Ramban," officials disclosed. Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent at SKIMS said that out of 2569 samples tested at SKIMS on Thursday, 65 samples were tested positive. He said 65 new cases include sixteen each from Anantnag and Srinagar, 13 each from Kulgam and two each from Pulwama, Budgam and Ganderbal, one each from Kupwara, Shopian, Bandipora, Baramulla, Udhampur and Jammu and 08 from RR/CRPF battalions He said that patients include 5 Soliders from 42 RR Rajpora Pulwama, 3 CRPF men one each from 61 battalion Srinagar, 183 battalion Pulwama and 49 battalion Anantnag and a year old baby from Washibugh Pulwama Dr Reyaz Untoo, Principal at JVC Bemina said that out of 503 samples tested at SKIMS Bemina (JVC) 27 including 23 from Budgam and 04 from Srinagar were tested positive. He said that new patients include 14 BSF men posted in Sanat Nagar area. He further added that 19 normal deliveries were managed and 27 major surgeries were conducted at hospital till date. Officials from CD hospital said that cases that were tested positive at CD hospital include 6 Soliders from BB cantonment Srinagar and one from DPL Ganderbal. As per officials figures, 1021 positive cases including 27 deaths and 375 recoveries are from Srinagar, 928 including 18 deaths and 409 recoveries are from Baramulla, 846 including 597 recoveries and 16 deaths are from Kulgam, 801 including 12 deaths and 611 recoveries are from Shopian, 692 including 09 deaths and 552 recoveries are from Anantnag, 553 including 413 recoveries and 06 deaths are from Kupwara, 518 including 251 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Pulwama, 434 including 237 recoveries and 08 death are from Budgam, 296 including 263 recoveries and 01 death are from Bandipora, 110 including 62 recoveries are from Ganderbal. In Jammu division, 363 including 284 recoveries and 08 deaths are from Jammu district, 284 including 181 recoveries and 01 death are from Udhampur, 223 including 187 recoveries are from Ramban, 232 including 165 recoveries and 01 death are from Kathua, 152 including 106 recoveries from Samba, 123 including 110 recoveries and 01 death are from Poonch, 115 including 01 death and 60 recoveries are from Rajouri, 86 including 59 recoveries and 02 death are from Doda, 45 including 31 recoveries are from Reasi and 27 including 21 recoveries are from Kishtwar. As per the daily information bulletin, 288,136 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 40,953 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 2760 persons are in hospital isolation while 33 persons are under hospital quarantine. According to the bulletin, 198,514 persons have completed surveillance period and 45,761 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 377,961 samples are available. Out of 377,961 the number of samples tested negative stands at 370,112 while as 7849 have been tested positive, among them 2760 are active and 4974 persons have recovered and 115 persons have died—(KNO)
