COVID-19: Three more fresh victims take toll to 16, JK tally 446 | KNO

Srinagar, Aug 06 (KNO): Sixteen more persons including a senior Revenue Officer and two CRPF men died of COVID-19 in Kashmir, thus taking the toll of deaths due to the virus to 443 in the UT. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Sixteen patients who died on Thursday include a 55-year-old patient from Molu Chitragam, an 82-year-old man from Nowgam Srinagar, an 80-year-old male from Malbagh Srinagar, a 68-year-old woman from Handwara, a 50-year-old man CRPF man from 43 Battalion, a 65-year-old male from Rusoo Budgam, a 33-year-old CRPF man from 179 Battalion, a 75-year-old male from Malangam Bandipora, a 70-year-old male from Wanigam Baramulla, a 70-year-old man from Pinjura Tangmarg, a 63-year-old male from Baramulla, a 60-year-old woman from Pantha Chowk Srinagar, a 69-year-old male from Kadlabal Pampore, a 42-year-old male from Patoli Jammu, a 44-year-old male from Roopnagar Jammu and a 69-year old male from Sunderbani Rajouri. An official said that a 55-year-old senior Revenue Officer from Molu Chitragam who was presently posted as Naib Tehsildar Watchi Shopian died of COVID-19 on Wednesday evening. DDC Shopian and many other officers especially from Revenue department have expressed grief over his demise. "It’s with huge grief that we share the demise of our Naib Tehsildar, Wachi Maqbool Wani Sb after he lost his battle against Covid y’day at SKIMS. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. He was a gentle, hardworking man & an asset for the Distt. May Allah SWT grant him Jannat.Aameen," DDC Shopian Dr Yasin Choudhary tweeted. An official from SKIMS Soura said that an 82-year-old man from Nowgam Srinagar who was admitted on 03 August died on Thursday. He added that an 80-year-old man from Malbagh Srinagar who was admitted on 05 August also died on Thursday. An official from SMHS told KNO that a 68-year-old woman from Handwara who was admitted 28 July with hypertension and bilateral Pneumonia died on Thursday. He said that her first COVID swab was positive while as her second report is awaited. He said that a 70-year-old male from Pinjura Tangmarg area of Baramulla who was admitted on 04 August with hypertension, aspiration pneumonia and other ailments died on Thursday. He added that a 60-year-old woman from Sofi Mohalla Pantha Chowk who was declared positive on 04 August died on Thursday. He added that a 63-year-old male from Baramulla who was admitted on 31 July also died on Thursday An official from CD hospital said that a 50-year-old CRPF man of 43 battalion at Humhama, who is a resident of Uttar Pradesh was admitted on 27 July and died on Thursday. He said that his second sample was tested negative on Wednesday and he was feeling better, however, he died suddenly due to Cardiac arrest. An official from SMHS said that a 65-year-old man from Rusoo Budgam who was admitted on 25 July with diabetes, bilateral Pneumonia and hypertension died on Thursday. An official from JVC Bemina said that a 33-year-old CRPF man from 179 CRPF battalion airport who was admitted on 05 August died on Thursday. He said that a 75-year-old male from Malangam Bandipora who was admitted on 04 August also died on Thursday. An official from GMC Baramulla said that a 70-year-old male from Wanigam Baramulla who was admitted on 05 August died on Thursday. An official from Pampore said that a 60-year-old male from Lalwani Mohalla Kadlabal Pampore who died on 03 August was declared positive after his death. An official from GMC Jammu told KNO that a 42-year-old man from Patoli Jammu who was admitted on 05 August with hypertension, hypothyroid, diabetes mellitus, chronic kidney disease and diabetic nephropathy and was on oxygen support, died on Thursday. He was tested positive for COVID-19 on August 04, he said. He added that a 44-male-old male from Roopnagar Jammu who was admitted few days before also died on Thursday. An official from Rajouri said that a 60-year-old cancer patient who was also tested positive for Covid-19 and was undergoing treatment died at his rented room in Srinagar. With 16 deaths, the death toll in J&K had reached to 446 including 413 from Kashmir division and 33 from Jammu division—(KNO)
