Militant, Soldier Killed in Pulwama gunfight | KNO

Pulwama, Aug 12 (KNO): A militant and a soldier were killed in a brief gunfight that raged between security forces and militants in orchards of Kamrazipora area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district. An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that on specific information about the presence of militants, a joint team of forces including 53 RR, CRPF and Police launched a search operation in orchards of Kamrazipora. He said that as forces approached towards the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon forces which retaliated triggering gunfight. During exchange of fire, two soldiers identified as Sepoy Julajit Singh and Sepoy Vikas got injured who were shifted to 92 base army hospital Srinagar where Julajit succumbed to his injuries while Vikas is stable, the official said, adding that soon after initial exchange of fire, cordon was extended. “During search operation, body of a militant was recovered in a nearby area, however, few militants managed to escape during the initial exchange of fire taking advantage of darkness and the search operation was called off at around 10 am,” he said.
