World Mental Health Day observed at Police Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, PCR, Kashmir | KNO

Today World Mental Health Day was observed at Police Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre PCR, Kashmir with a focus on the theme, “Mental Health in the Work Place”.

The programme was attended by the renowned Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Medical Officers, Social Workers, Counsellors, other health care professionals, families of patients, staff of Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre and Mental Health Researcher from Italy.

In the opening of the workshop, Dr. Muzaffar , In-charge Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre warmly welcomed the guests and participants and gave a brief introduction about the World Mental Health Day. Following this Dr. Sayed Aqeel Consultant Psychiatrist working in U.K. gave a detailed presentation on the importance of World Mental Health Day theme and he stressed upon the facts and figures with reference to WHO, related to Mental Health issues in work place.

Dr. Akash Khan, Consultant Psychiatrist emphasised upon the need for changing the attitudes of professionals and society towards Mental Health illness. He stressed upon the need for creating awareness at all levels. Ms. Uzma, Social Worker, in her detailed lecture stressed upon the factors associated with mental health at work place. She emphasised on work culture, role conflicts, stigma, acceptance of illness and sensitivity towards mental health issues at work place.

The workshop was concluded through an interactive discussion between audience and experts, focusing on all possible and practical solutions to deal with mental health issues at work place. The programme was concluded by Dr. Muzaffar by thanking the experts, participants and Mr. Yasir Arafat for organising and coordinating the programme.
