Budgam: Aug 01 (KNO): For the first time in four decades, Kashmiri Pandits performed a Hawan at the Wasak Nag Pracheen Mandir in Wagam village of Chadoora, Budgam, with full support from local Muslims.
The historic event as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), also saw the installation of two sacred Murtis – Mata Ganga and Wasaki Mata inside the temple, which was recently renovated by the local administration.
The Hawan marked an emotional return for the Pandit community, many of whom were visiting their ancestral village after years of displacement. Dozens gathered at the temple and performed Hawan, offered prayers and reunited with old neighbours.
“This day is like a dream come true. Coming back to our roots and being welcomed like this fills our hearts with joy and hope,” said Pandit Bablu G, one of the participants, who continuously visited the temple for a long time.
Local Muslim residents played an instrumental role, organizing logistics and ensuring a peaceful environment for the event.
“We consider this temple part of our shared history. Helping them return and worship here is our duty as neighbours,” said Mohammad Ashraf, a local resident of Wagam.
The gathering witness emotional scenes, as members of both communities hugged, shared food and prayed together for lasting peace in the region—(KNO)
