Srinagar, Sep 15 (KNO): Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Monday said that sports events such as Jashn-e-Dal play a vital role in strengthening the bonds between the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the public. Speaking at the closing ceremony of Jashn-e-Dal here, DGP Prabhat, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the annual event has been witnessing greater participation with each passing year. “The enthusiasm shown by participants and spectators has made the entire Dal Lake vibrant. Such programmes act as a bridge between the police and the public,” he said. The DGP also lauded the achievements of police personnel in sports, citing the recent feat of a J&K Police constable who won the Ladakh Marathon. “Our men are not only ensuring peace and security but also excelling in the sporting arena, inspiring the youth to channel their energies in the right direction,” the DGP said. Highlighting the force’s commitment to youth engagement, he said that besides Jashn-e-Dal, the J&K Police regularly organizes cricket and football tournaments and other sporting events. “Sports tournaments play a crucial role in bringing youngsters together and encouraging them towards healthy and constructive activities,” he added. DGP Prabhat maintained that such initiatives reflect the police’s vision of building stronger community ties while promoting talent and discipline among the younger generation—(KNO)
