Ganderbal, May 24 (KNO): A massive rescue operation entered its second day on Saturday in Paribal Shallabugh area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district after a forest guard reportedly drowned in Nallah Sindh while on duty. The forest guard has been identified as Shameem Ahmad Mir(45) son of Ghulam Mohammad Mir, a resident of Batwina, Ganderbal. Shameem, who was serving as a Forest Guard, is believed to have slipped into the fast-flowing waters of Nallah Sindh in Compartment No. 1 of the Paribal forest area late Friday evening during the course of his official duties. Following the incident, a massive search and rescue operation was launched, involving Marine Commandos, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Jammu and Kashmir Police, local administration, and dedicated rescue teams. Local residents and family members have also joined the efforts, working tirelessly alongside officials in a race against time. Despite continuous operations through Friday night and into Saturday afternoon, there has been no trace of Shameem’s body. The operation is being carried out under challenging conditions, with strong river currents and rugged terrain hampering the search. “All available resources have been deployed, and the operation is being closely monitored,” an official from the Forest Department told KNO. “We are committed to continuing the rescue efforts until the body is recovered.”—(KNO)
