Mariya Showkat wins bronze at 68th Nat’l School Games | KNO

Ganderbal, May 02 (KNO): Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Ganderbal congratulated Mariya Showkat of Watlar, a resident of Chanthan Gulabpora, for winning a bronze medal at the prestigious 68th National School Games. Mariya won the medal in the martial art of Thang-Ta, competing in the under-44 kg weight category in the Girls U-17 division. Her outstanding performance, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), has brought immense pride to her school, community and the entire district of Ganderbal. District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Ganderbal, Sheikh Shafqat Iqbal, lauded the young athlete’s achievement, stating, “Mariya’s accomplishment is a proud moment for all of us. Her perseverance, commitment, and skill have not only earned her national recognition but also inspired countless youngsters across the district.” The department also extended appreciation to Mariya’s coaches and family for their continuous support and encouragement.
